Joan Mitchell worked from feeling rather than formula — translating the rhythm of a poem or the mood of a piece of music into paint through sheer physical intuition. Her layered, gestural compositions can be seen to hold both chaos and tension; this friction is where the emotional truth lives.

I try to bring that same sensibility to my photography: to stop calculating and start feeling, to let memory and sensation guide my eye rather than technique alone.
