gachi,

the word originates from the sumo ring.

No fixed outcome, no performance.

Gachinko: an honest bout… the real thing.

In ways that matter, gachi came to name

any moment of unguarded commitment —

gachi koi  to fall truly in love;

or gachi de yaru, to give everything you have.

It is also the only word for a bowl of ramen

built from twelve hours of bone-broth —

that cannot be rushed, cannot be faked,

and will not pretend to be anything

other than what it is.
